Hello everybody!! I’m Manuela Torrigiani and I’m a PhD-student in the course of Nuclear and Industrial Safety but now I don’t want to tell about my research or my activities because they would be very boring matters for you. So I prefer to describe myself, my hobbies and also my merits and faults. A lot of people have defined me as a “sunny person”, and I like very much this definition because I think to be really smiley. Others my merits are the sincerity (sometimes it can be a problem…) and altruism. But every coin has got a reverse… and so I’m very ticklish and really precise so I can become grouchy (especially with my brother which is very untidy). I’m engaged from about 8 years with Alberto and together we do charity work at Misericordia. I do Aqua Step twice a week but my favorite hobby is… to sleep!! I would sleep always and everywhere … In fact I sleep in the train every morning when I go to the University, in airplane, at the sea etc… I’m also fond of stuffed animals (I have got about 60 stuffed animals in my bedroom so there isn’t no more space because some of them are very big…) and of Egypt. In fact I like Egyptian history, the mystery of this ancient culture and in particular their mythology. My parents have given a cruise on Nile for my academic degree and I have cruised with Alberto on October. I have really realized one of my bigger dreams!! The cruise has been very interesting and I have bought a lot of papyrus, statues, typical objects and so on… Well, for now it’s all… I want to maintain a little of mystery about me…. Bye!!!
Hi! I’m Matteo, I’m 27 and I live in San Miniato, still with my parents, even if I hope I’ll go to live with my girlfriend as soon as possible. I’m a Ph.D. student in chemical engineering, studying in the field of hydrogen production and waste treatment. I’ve always had two main hobbies, fighting against each other: music and volleyball. I started to play volley when I was 13, while I started to play bass guitar and sing in a band at the age of 15. My band’s name was Bladisciark, the wrong lettering of the English “Bloody Shark”. We played 60’s and 70’s rock covers by Led Zeppelin, Who, Beatles, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull and so on, and we also wrote some original songs in Italian. At the same time, I was playing volley in the B2 league, which is the 4th division in Italy. This situation could not go on, because I really had not enough time for both my hobbies. Thus when I was 20 and university was becoming more and more challenging, I sadly decide to abandon the band. Now indeed I play bass only rarely, while I’m still playing volleyball in the C league, and just in this days we are participating in the play-off tournament in order to go back in the B2 league. I can also give you my team’s website address (www.castelfrancovolley.it), for more information and some pictures! Anyway, when I’ll stop to play volley (I hope as later as possible because I really love it) I think I will start again to do music. I can’t stay every night in front of a television. I really can’t! What else? I like very much to read, especially novels. Among my favourite writers I can list James Ellroy, Edward Bunker, Wu Ming, Umberto Eco, J.R.R. Tolkien, but this list is anyway too short and I want to bore you no longer. I think I’ve given enough information about myself...now let me know something about you, too! Bye!
my real name is Andrea but I feel more comfortable with nicknames in the world wide web ^_^. I used to call me Laguna since 2000. Laguna is character from Final Fantasy VIII. He is very altruistic. Sometimes, although motivated by the best intension, he put himself, and others in trouble. This was (and maybe still is :D ) my prerogative. Although videogame are not my hobbies anymore, I am too used to Laguna to pick another nickname. I really like to watch films especially TV-Series because they permit you to understand better characters. I also like to play soccer (in the 5 Vs 5 version) with my friend. During last week, the sunny days bring me to desire to be on a beach and to swim on the sea. I am not a very good writer as I prefer to speak with people. Live dialog are much better because there are also “body communication”. We can understand if someone is happy just watching his eye, his face expression and also how he move his hands. By the way I am a PhD student in Information Engineering.
Its Mithu, from Bangladesh, describing himself. M. A. H. Mithu is Assistant Professor of Manufacturing Engineering in the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. He received an M. Engg in Manufacturing Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). At present, he is a Ph. D student in the University of Pisa, Department of Mechanical, Nuclear and Production Engineering. He teaches undergraduate courses in Production Process and Machine Tools. His research areas of interest include manufacturing with special interest in manufacturing, but he is learning micromanufacturing technology, especially Electrochemical micromachining (ECM)in his Ph D study. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Materials Processing Technology. Thats his carrier carrier, besides thare is personal life and hobbies. This person likes sleeping, but not in train, in bus or in plain; likes travel, watching movie and chatting by messenger. Sometimes, he delete the routing for food, sleep and shopping when he is in chat. There is a very very bad habit into him. He is smoker, trying to leave it; God knows when he can... When he was student in undergarduate level, he was khown as Iron-man. He left the university, the name deleted day by day. He has born in 9th May, Sunday, from the astrological viewpoint, he belongs to 'Taurus'. Do you know the character of male Taurus... see-"But once he’s made up his mind that you’re the one, and once he sets his mind on winning you, he’ll make the Libra lover look like a fumbler. He’ll even put the smitten lion and the passionate Scorpio to shame.....His will be the largest, fanciest, most eloquent Valentine the postman ever delivered on February 14th. When a Taurus man courts you, he courts you. He doesn’t fool around...". At last he’ll never forget the date you first met or any other intimate anniversary between you. For the love of buttercups, how much romance do you need? Ciao, Ciao (bye bye).
My name is Vanessa; I was born in Turin in 1982. My father decided for my name. When my mother was pregnant he read a book where the main character was a beautiful girl called Vanessa. Then he discovered that Vanessa is also a kind of butterfly derived from Greek Phanes (Phanessa), a mystic divinity. Afterward he said: “if it is a female, her name will be Vanessa” I spent my life go around Italy with my parents, but now I'm living in Pisa where I attended the University of Pisa and at the same place I'm attending the Ph.D. course in Information Technology. I think that talk about prep is boring so I would like to talk about me. There are many words to describe myself and my personality. At work I am a serious and precise person so I talk about me rarely; but same friends talk about me as a cartoon because with them I am sunny and playful. My parents are far from me so my family is my dog. It stays with me all the time, when I am at home, and if I am free I spent my time for its happiness. During my holidays I love deeply travel and when I came back I modify my home for remember me the wonderful places visited. For example in my home there is a red wall because when I had been gone to Melbourne many people had painted one wall for each room in a different way. When I look my red wall I think “Great!” (Not my wall!!!) Moreover, I have many pictures of sweet kangaroos and mine, that remember me Australia, but none of koalas because surprisingly are evil. During my life I have visited: Brussels, Amsterdam, Miami, Orlando, Madrid, Seville, Moscow, Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Monaco, Melbourne, Sydney but I fall in love at first sigh with London. I wish come back to London and perhaps stay there per a long time....
Hi! I'm Gianni, a 25 (26 at the end of this month) years old PhD student from the Department of Information Engineering. My field of research is focused on telecomunication networking: everything concerning the functionality of Internet. I live with my parents in Migliarino, a little well-know village near Pisa. I have always had two great passions: music and volleyball. I'm playing volleyball since I was 13 in Migliarino Volley of course. After two years passed in D league, this year I decide to play in first division league since I haven't got time to play seriously. Every year I organize (with lot of my friends) a volleyball tournament (green volley 3vs3): MNF Summer Fest. Last year we count 85 male team and 44 female team. If someone is interested...contact me!!In any case music is my real passion. 4 years ago I decided to create with my one of my friends a website about alternative music (www.ondalternativa.it). Every day I have to work hard on it, but even if this means that I could sleep only six hours every night I don't care. After a week with only six hours of sleep every night, in the sunday I wake up at 2 pm o'clock. So it's a long time that I can't see the sunday morning!
Hi, I'm Barbara C. I'm twenty-seven year old and I'm from Vicenza, a big town in the north-east part of Italy where I lived until 1999. I attended Pisa University since that date and I'm going to become to all intents and purposes a citizen of Pisa. Everybody knows that “pisani” are not really friendly and smart people but Pisa itself is good place to live. Since last November I'm employed full time in small company in Pisa, specialized in “Oil and Energy” field, as young researcher. At the moment I'm also a PhD student because at the same time I won the PhD course on “Sicurezza Nucleare e Industriale” competition at Pisa University and I had the possibility to improve the same topics I use to cope with everyday at work. It is an hard life, indeed, working, studing and attending courses, but I'm sure I'll do it! The C1 English course is one of my favourite; it helps me a lot to improve my spoken English and even if would I'm afraid I couldn't really spend much more time writing and listening. (Dear Prof. Luisa, please, forgive me!) About me in leisure time, I'm a juggler (yes, not only engineering in my life!) and every time I can spare some time I love throwing objects in the air. My friends and me created an association without profit that aims to promote street art and theatre called “I Chicchi d'Uva”. You can collect some informations to www.ichicchiduva.it .
Hi guys! This is Riccardo's speakink! Where do I begin to tell the story of myself ? It's hard day, today: outside rain is pouring; I'm tired because of a strong meeting in which we only decided to meet again; the meal was worst than ever...but it's better to start describing myself. I'm 37, probably one of the older in Luisa's student set, and the question that immediately arises is: "why 37?, What the hell did u do in the past 10 years from your degree?" Since I'm a physicist, I began working at the IBM as computer-scientist... The stupidity in the above sentence is that many physicist are working as computer-scientist. And this is an absurd! I love physics and I'd like to "be" a physicist, without stealing the job to a "native" computer scientist. So I fill guilty and not at ease. I liked and like research, crazy men in laboratories, be late in jobs... Suddenly, one day, I decided it could be my personnel "Hoka Hey" and I left my company to start a new life as researcher grant at CNR. This decision was not easy to be taken. I replaced the safe monotony in a big company with a one-day life at the CNR. But now it's over. So.. what else...At the moment I'm a computer-scientist in the computational linguistic world. I don't want to bore u with my life, but I'd like to bore u with my interests. As I told u, physics is the first love and, now, I'm very excited for the Large Hadron Collider experiment start-up at CERN. This experiment should demonstrate the existence of the "particle of God". God is one of my favourites topic. I read the Bible, old and new Testament; I read the "apocrypha" Gospels and so on. Some of the apocrypha are pure philosophy, which is the third of my intellectual interests. But a man can't live with only science, so I like movies, music, sports.. I'm a fanatic of oriental cultures, I was captured by the Japanese ideogram for man, "hito", that's two strokes balancing each other. It means something like that the men does not exist by himself, but he needs someone else. Then I started studying Karate and Tai-chi Wudang to improve my knowledge. Karate is a path that tries to encode my way of looking at the life from different perspective; the Wudang is the power of the nature held in a man. Both of these disciplines put the human being at the centre. Both of these seek for first principles. And so the circle is done! Well, outside is still raining and I watch the rain pouring at my windows. I turn my self to toiled papers and hope to see u tomorrow. Time is gone. Ps: there are some movies and songs citations, in this post...Did u recognize'em? R
Hi all, I'm Giuseppe. To be more precise, Giuseppe is my first name, Daniel is my second name. I preferred to choose as nickname the latter, because almost all my friend called me Daniel. You can call me as you prefer, as I like both of them. I don't see why I should not use both of them! Finally, after I don't know how many lesson, I have been able to make all the tasks that Luisa has "suggested" to do. I'm a bad english student, but I'll seek to improve myself. Today I went to the dentist for a tooth to treat. I hope that tomorrow I will not feel sick. Now I have to greet all, because I have a match of soccer in fourty minutes. I'm late. Bye Bye See you Tomorrow
excuse me for the precedent post. it was badly formatted cos i copied it from notepad... :)
Hi everybody, i'm Manuel and I'm a phd-student in Information Engineering. My area of research concerns the architecture of elaboration systems. In more detail, my topic is finding innovative architectures for the cache system of a cpu. Said that, i think it will be more interesting if i'll talk a bit about me and my other interests and leave academical stuff for more formal occurences.
I was born in La Spezia, which is 80 kilometers far from Pisa. I attended schools in my birth city, then I decided to study Computer Engineering at Pisa university. i chose pisa because it is the nearest university to my city to be reached by train, and because a lot of friends of mine had chosen the same university too. For the years of my engineering course and until this first period of phd i chose not to live in pisa but to commute by train. now i'm thinking about fnding a room near to my university because my working timetable doesn't fit very well with trains: quite often i have to work until evening and coming back home at such a hour can be very uncomfortable.
I still have some good reasons for coming back home everyday. First i have the opportunity to stay with my parents and keep alive all my contacts and fellowships in La Spezia. Then at home i have the piano, so when i come back if i'm not too tired i play a bit the piano and relax myself.
Music is very important to me. I primarily listen to classical music, but also i don't dislike rock and electronic music. My passion with music has started taking piano lessons when i was younger. Trying to play the piano stimulates in you musical ear and entice you to listen to a lot of music, both the music you are learning (played by more skilled pianists than you!) both other music from the same author or period. I think it's similar to the relatioship between reading and writing. Indeed it's quite natural that people who study literature also try to write something from their own. In arts, the distance between fruition and creation is not so definite, in my opinion.
By the way, i also love literature, primary italian and english literature of the 900s. This doesn't mean i'm a huge reader. I read few books a year, both because i don't have much time both because i prefer to read less but in a deeper way and taking all my time for going deep through the writer's mind. This time i'm reading "The Nephew", by James Purdy. It's a book about "absence". The family of a young american soldier (composed by his uncle and his aunt) fallen during war tries to piece together the life they had with the young man through their memories, his photos and his diary. During the story they seem to learn more about their nephew than when he was near them. The image of the nephew changes and develops along the story as a silent character. I found this technique of desctiption very interesting and original.
So far, it can seem that i'm a lonely guy which just likes to stay at home listening to Wagner and reading strange books. It's not like that! I also love going out with my friends, both in La Spezia both in Pisa. I'm not a disco lover, that's true. Music is too loud and you have to dress in ridiculous ways. I prefer pubs, where you can talk and have a beer with your friends whithout having to move in strange ways and pumping your ear with basses.
Hi! My name is Giulio and I’m a 24 years old PhD student in Information Engineering, analyzing in detail transmission systems. In particular, my research area is resource allocation in multi-cellular systems. I would like to tell you something about me, in particular about my personal hobbies and what I do during the free time. I live in Empoli (Florence) with my parents and every day I go to Pisa by train, just like when I was a “normal” student and I had to go the lessons. Because of this, during the week I don’t have a lot of free time, so, when I come back to home on evening, I prefer to sleep… My principal interest are: sports in general, (in particular football, tennis), watching film to cinema, going to the sea on summer. During the weekend I spend a lot of my time to watch sports on TV and when it is possible I go to play tennis. I had play tennis in a team for a lot of years but now I play only for amusement with my friends. Another passion is travelling, although I have discovered it only a few of years ago… In any case, I would like to visit the most famous European capital and the USA as soon as possible! This is not a bad idea…:)
Hello everybody! I’m Ciro and I’m 25 and I came from Spoleto, a town in the Umbria region. I attend the PhD course in Chemical and material engineering and my work concern renewable energy. I live in Pisa from March 2008. My hobbies are sport (all the sport but in particular soccer), music and motorcycles. First to arrive in Pisa I lived in Perugia for five years, when I have attended the university and worked at industrial engineering department for one year. I like to travel and I love the sea! Whenever I can I’m happy to go to the sea, especially in Gargano, a part of the Puglia region, my parents native land. I like reading undemanding books, like adventure storys, because for me are more pleasant; but the reading that I love deeply is the Disney comics like Topolino, Paperino et cetera… I don’t like television, because I think that it burns our minds, in particular program like talk show and similar, but sometimes I see television for a good film like Bud Spencer and Terence Hill’s films, for a soccer match or for a documentary. That's all folks!!! See you later
Hi, I’m Alessio Simi and I’m 26 years old. I live in a small village near Lucca, Borgo a Mozzano. It’s famous for a particular bridge, called Devil’s Bridge.
At the University, I’m a PhD student in land vehicles and transportation system. My activities consist to study the automotive engines, working with alternative fuels.
Moreover, I’m working at a new activity; I’m a member of the Racing Team of the University of Pisa. The name of our group is E-Team Squadra Corse (www.eteam-unipi.it). We are planning and building a small car for a competition, called Formula SAE. Formula SAE Italy is a competition that challenges teams of university undergraduate and graduate students to conceive, design, fabricate and compete with small, formula style, autocross racing cars. The next race is organized by ATA (the Italian Automotive Technical Association) and will take place in the Ferrari Fiorano Racetrack on September 20 - 22, 2008. In this team, I’m the engine responsible.
In my free time, I play a football in a local team; in the winter, my favourite hobby is to sky. About my character, I’m sunny and friendly… Is it all??? Sorry, I don’t like speaking about me!!! :-)
Hi! My name is Lisa and i come from Toscany, Carrara. I'm a PhD- student in Applied electromagnetism but just talking about me..... Who am I? During this year I' ve tried to analize myself and there are may aspects of my character that are evolving every day! I' m a rational person not a romantic one and it took me a while before becoming familiar with persons. After that time, if you pass my test be sure that I'm very honest and helpful! What about my hobbies? I love sports, expecially tennis, sametimes i have match but i'm not very competitive! Win or loose for me is the same....sometime!!! I love music, film and sleeping! I love old film and French film not the american one! Sorry...I have to go.... To be continued....
Hi, I'm Andrea, I'm 27 and I live in Livorno. I'm an Electronic Engineer and a first year PhD student in Information Engineering, working on fast data acquisition systems and real-time signal processing. Moreover, like Alessio, Giovanni and Riccardo, I also am a member of the Racing Team of the University of Pisa. We are working on the development of a new self-built small racing car for the Formula ATA competition in September, and my job is to design the electronic control unit for the gear and the clutch. My only hobby is music. Since 1995 I am a member of a pop/rock band in which I play piano and keyboards. In the past years we played a lot in several pubs of Tuscany, especially during summer, having a great fun... but now our free-time is running out, because we have to work (or keep studying)... However, sometimes we gather during weekends in a rehearsal room, and we play for 2 or 3 hours as to make up for lost time. I also love mountains and trekking. Almost every year I go to the mountains, either in Italy or abroad. For this summer, I'm planning a holiday in Trentino with my girlfriend, and I can't wait to leave...!
Hi everybody......I am Mithu... I think there is a maladjustment when I compare my description with others. My description was so boring; so, I am trying to reconstruct it. The previous description was based on my academic curriculum vitae. Actually I have to write here about myself..... so delete the previous from your mind.
I am 30 years old guy, and born in a village type town called Kishoregong. From my very childhood, I was too much naughty and stupid. But there is a regularities in my study because my mother was teacher in a primary school and sometimes I found my mother as a class teacher in the school. Among five children of my parents, I am third. Sometimes my mother could not pay attention for all her children for the shortage of time. My Papa was so serious about us, but he was so busy person for his job. Sometimes he had to sent money for my grandparents, so he had to work hard. His job was transferable, when the government wanted, Papa had to go according to direction from the government. Sometimes we felt lonely in absence of my father. My mother was only the caring person in that situation. I have already said, we were five, we got more time to spent more time other than study.
My father had spent all his money for our study. Everybody in our family got minimum Masters degree and engaged in job (good job!!!). But there is a bad news for our family. My father died by cardiac arrest in 2002, April 18. In this moment we have nothing to do for him. By tradition, everybody in our country spent money for his/her parents when they are in retired from job or when they have no work. In compare to our economy, we can earn a lot, more than average, but my father had little money, he spent all his money for us, not for his happiness. I think he is only one 'bad-lucky' person in the world. After his death, my elder brother, who is a doctor, becoming a specialist on cardiac respiratory system. All are fate... for our family.
Now come to me.... When my papa died, I was a student. My papa wanted, I become a teacher in that university, so he advised me to study more to get a good result. My father died, I became a teacher, but my papa has not seen it. when I drawn the salary of first month from the university, the money made me dumb, because every child loves my Papa very much....At last, I will paste here a little jokes about a man...and his life...justify it... God created the donkey
and said to him. "You will be a donkey. You will work un-tiringly from sunrise to sunset carrying burdens on your back. You will eat grass, you will have no intelligence and you will live 50 years." The donkey answered: "I will be a donkey, but to live 50 years is much. Give me only 20 years" God granted his wish.
God created the dog
and said to him: "You will guard the house of man. You will be his best Friend. You will eat the scraps that he gives you and you will live 30 years. You will be a dog. " The dog answered: "Sir, to live 30 years is too much, give me only 15 years. " God granted his wish.
God created the monkey
and said to him: "You will be a monkey. You will swing from branch to branch doing tricks. You will be amusing and you will live 20 years " The monkey answered: "To live 20 years is too much, give me only 10 years." God granted his wish.
Finally God created man ...
and said to him: "You will be man, the only rational creature on the face of the earth. You will use your intelligence to become master over all the animals. You will dominate the world and you will live 20 years." Man responded: "Sir, I will be a man but to live only 20 years is very little, give me the 30 years that the donkey refused, the 15 years that the dog did not want and the 10 years the monkey refused. " God granted man's wish And since then, man lives 20 years as a man , marries and spends 30 years like a donkey, working and carrying all the burdens on his back.
Then when his children are grown, he lives 15 years like a dog taking care of the house and eating whatever is given to him, so that when he is old, he can retire and live 10 years like a monkey, going from house to house and from one son or daughter to another doing tricks to amuse his grandchildren.
Hi! I’m Elisa and I live in Lucca. I’m a Ph.D. student in Information Engineering My field of research is focused on Microwave and RF integrated circuits…well, to tell all the truth, I really like better studying microwave circuits. In those last years the study has completely takes up my life… and I really don’t like it! We work to live, we can’t live to work! About the rest of my life…… well, I play guitars since I was 12, and I play in a band, Madrugada: we are five girls! We play together for nearly 10 years… during the first years we played a lot, but in those last years the bass player and the singer had babies, so now it’s quite difficult also to find a day to play together! I also like astronomy, I’m a member of UAL (Unione Astrofili Lucchesi). We have courses, observation’s evening, trips in astronomic observatories and so on. It’s really interesting and quite different from my work… sometimes I really need to take off my work and to do something completely different! It refreshes me! …well, what else can I say about me? I don’t know…. See you soon!
Hi, I'm Cristina! At the moment I am a Ph doctor in Chemical and Material Engineering (I discussed my final thesis in 29th of April). I'm married with Francesco, a cardiologist, since 2005, and we have two fantastic children Gabriele 4 and Nicola 2. It wasn't simple to be a mother and study for a Ph degree at the same time, but I was able to do it. Before having a child I was a sportswoman, I played volleyball, I went to swimming, running and biking; but now I have abandoned everything, because I'm too tired. (I don't want to frighten anybody about having a family, it's only a change of needs!) I think it's all (I'm very brief when I write!) bye Cristina
Hi, I’m Francesco and I am 27 years old. I’m a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering currently attending the English course hold by Luisa. My research activity deals with the analysis and design of electric machines and, hopefully, will bring me across Europe for conferences and seminars. However, I’d like to present myself as a person now, not just as a student! I like English very much, mainly because the music I like most comes from the UK, or is sung in English, and I want to understand the lyrics. My preferred activity is having relax and listening to music, burning my own compilations and finding the best combination and sequence, like a DJ: when I was at school, following my passion, me and a friend opened a web-page where I used to up-load 20-minutes long audio files with me playing some music and commenting it, just like in radio. At that time, I was fond of electronic music, especially trip-hop and drum’n’bass, but now my likings have spread to rock too, and I’m a great listener of 70’s grous, like Led Zeppelin the Who. My second passion, and more recently born, is foreign politics. I think a combination of geography and history explains the way things go in the world and hence I started gathering information (from books, websites and even news) to keep up to date with the events of the world, especially with regard to Middle East and China.
I’m Giovanni, I’m 26 years old and I live in Pisa. I’m a first year PhD student in land vehicle engineering, working on alternative fuels like hydrogen and Bio-fuels. I’m a member of E-Team, and we are working to realize a small car (like a go-kart) for a competition called Formula SAE. I have a lot of interests, like cinema and classical music. I don’t like sport, because I’m very lazy. For my job I’m involved into a project of a small aircraft fed by hydrogen: every two or three months we have technical meetings where all partners are invited. This is a good opportunity to travel, and to improve my english. For next holidays I would like to visit Germany, I have never been there, but I’ve many interests associated with german place: classical music for example (in summer there are many Opera-festival, for example in Bayreuth) but I like cars too (and in Germany there are many famous companies that produce high performance cars). However, I must confess I prefer the seaside to the mountains, so I will stay in Germany only for a few days…
I everybody! I'm a Riccardo of the C1 course too, even if not an original Dolce and Gabbana one ... As all of you, I'm a PhD student in Engineering, and in particular, in ground vehicle engineering. I'm attending the first year of this course, but during the last year I was already working in my current department with a scholarship. In my university life, I'm also a member of the E-Team, the Formula SAE racing team of the University of Pisa. I will not repeat what is this team and what are we doing (Alessio and others already did that), but I would like to remind you our web-site (http://www.eteam-unipi.it) and ask you to visit it. Ok, that's all for the university. So, something about me. I'm 25 and I live in Pisa with my girlfriend Sabine in a wide one-room flat in via S.Maria, just 200 m far from CLI (my delays are therefore no more justified...). Even if it is just a one-room flat, I find our apartment very comfortable and beautiful, especially for the mezzanine, for the little terrace and now, for a new kitchen we have set and partially built in the last two weekends (what a hard job...). I love sports, quite all of them have something I like, I would cancel just a few of them, golf and curling for instance. I play five-a-side football in the main team of Pisa, but not the strongest... This year I didn't have so much time for training and playing games, especially in the last two months, but I'm happy my teammates won the play-out games and we will remain in the C1 series also next year. With almost all of them, we have an other team playing in the CUS tournament, which is ended two weeks ago, with a brilliant... victory! More than sports, I love travelling. When we have more than two days free (and money), my girlfriend and me are always somewhere. We like travel free without any plans but just with some ideas. Usually we travel by car and we sleep in a tend, finding many times beautiful places that are even better than a 5 star hotel. Last summer we went to Mexico and Guatemala and we had to change our way of travelling. We went around as backpackers with local buses and we found also this kind of holiday very good. It's always lunch time when I write here, I would write something more, but I have to go. Bye. See lots of you very soon...
Hi everybody! I am Umberto and I am from Sicily. I am 26 and I am studying physics, working at my thesis. What else? I think I have said enough, for the moment, at least :) bye...
I'm federica and I'm 25 I study medicine and surgery.I come from the south of Tuscany. What can I say about me .. I love travelling in fact at this moment I'd like to be in Barcelona or in Paris but not here in Pisa(because that reminds me that i have to study hard to pass my examinations),I adore reading especially English writers of 18th and 19th century most of all Jane Austen and William Thackeray. I love doing sports especially volley(I've been playing it for 7 years) and long jump(for about 4 years). That's all at the moment.Bye

my name is Mario, i am 28 and i am a phd student here in pisa. i am attending to this english course because i need to improve my ability to speak and write english. i guess there are many motivations about that, first of all my work, i am in the biothecnology field, so english is everyday, second, but not less important, everyone neeeds english to comunicate we are continuosly "hit" by english language from everywhere T.V., internet...and it is getting everydays more marked ok, that's all bye
Hi I'm Daniele, I'm studying English because i like it very much, i would like to be able and fluent in speaking so i decided to enroll this course. I study aerospace engineering at Pisa's university. my interest are....too many! i like to cook and make everything like beer cheese wine... I've got two dogs a many other animals (fortunately I don't live in the city!) I plaid for ten years clarinetto then I started to study guitar and whit some friends of mine we plaid music together.I like rugby,I plaid rugby,i say tanks to rugby! Strange? I don't think so.If U know rugby you will understand me, it's a very friendly sport (well i mean not during the match) the third time together whit the opposite team it's a very nice way to meet people...i think rugby is what we call Sport.Anyway time it's pass, but it's not all i hope we'll have many other opportunity Bye Bye... Daniele
Hi all, my name is Giovanni and I'm a phd student in computer science. I like to spend my spare time doing sports. Unfortunately my spare time is very limited, so I usually end up doing it only on week-ends (and mainly in spring/summer, when the wheather is good, and it's not cold!). During summer time, I often take the bike and go out for a ride, near the small village where I live. I really would like to be able to do other sports (as I was used to, when I was younger and not so busy!)... but currently I can't... :(((( By the way, I used to play tennis a lot, and even earlier I played volleyball (but I think I'm not really good at playing it anymore...). I also sometimes played football, but I'm not doing it for a long time.
My self Chaitanya Ramesh. (you can call me RAMESH, if u find difficult)I am from India, I am a PhD student in BIOS School,University of Pisa. I am working on Breast Cancer. I have been Living in Pisa from last three years, I am enjoying staying here in Beautiful and Historical Italy. I like Italian food and nice Romantic seasides, only thing i dont like here is Beaurocracy(lengthy- procedure). My hobbies are like Playing cricket, swimming and roaming around the world. I have been to all over great-India. and Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain.I love cooking i can say this is my first hobbie, i am enthusiastic to learn new dishes. when am in bad/boaring mood my cooking makes me feel better. this is all about me,,,ok we will know more in next scrap.......cheers
my name is Emanuele, I'm 26 year old and I'm from Grosseto. I have lived here in Pisa for nearly six years. I'm studying Aerospace Engineering, obviously at Pisa University. I hope this is my last year in Pisa, because I only have to take three examinations before starting my graduation thesis. I chose Aerodynamics as my degree curriculum and I hope to find a job related to that. I would like to get a job as a researcher as well because I've always thought of myself as a researcher or a scientist, but I know that in Italy this won't be so easy and I really mind about because I believe that in Italy there are many clever and good students who are forced to go abroad to get a job as researchers.I think it's a pity and I hope that this situation will get better in next years. I don't know what I'm going to do after my graduation, I'm going to decide after that. I really like music and I spend a lot of my daytime listening to music. I don't listen only a particular kind of music, I listen to many different music genres like pop, rock, rnb etc. It usually depends on my mood. Well for now that's all, I'm going to write something else about me in other post-messages. Bye bye
Hi everybody... at least I find time to describe myself....
I am Barbara V. , 27 years old... I live in a small village set in the middle of the “Alpi Apuane” not so far from Pisa...so EVERY DAYS I have to move myself from Mulina (this is the name of my village!) to Pisa.......oh yes!...I am living with my parents...but what can I say... “this is a forced choice!!”.....
At the end of 2006 I obtained the Master Degree (Laurea) in “Ingegneria Nucleare e della Sicurezza Industriale” and actually I am PhD student in Pisa University.
I don't want to describe my work because I think that each of us know what means a PhD “work”...but I want to try to describe my peculiarities and my “normalities”... although I think difficult even in Italian to speak of this matter...so we will see what happens in English..... ;-)
What I like? First of all, I love to travel....give me a bag, tennis shoes and a destination ...I'll give you back a smile!!... because in my opinion is too much important to share experiences...and to know different countries and habits....at the end, we know, the World is really small....
I like also spend time in the nature...where I can fill my eyes and my ears with colors and sounds....unfortunately our work is not so creative, considering the artistic point of view...and I am an engineering with the dream of the painting... but when I chose, I opted for a more pragmatic activity! To fill these gaps coming from my work, I catch some hits from the nature and traveling I try to visit more Museums that I can...
I would like, also, to spend my small knowledge helping people...for instance for the development of South of World..In order to try to do something I am member of Ingegneria Senza Frontiere-Pisa, an association born in 2003 in Pisa University....but as you can image...nuclear knowledge are not of help in countries where are more important needs (absence of water, absence of food, etc.)
and what I don't like? A lot of thing but in particular the gratuitous intolerance and ignorance....and the cabbage... ;-P !!!
Hi everybody! I’m Elisa, one of Luisa’s students attending the C1 level course. I’m a PhD student in Telecommunication Engineering. I’m 27 years old...Although all the people I met think I’m younger…the record is under 20 years-old!!! :-D Last time I went to poll, the election secretary asked me if I could poll also for the Senate because he thought I was under 25 years-old! I hope that in the future, when I’ll be older, everybody will think me younger .
Joking aside, what can I tell you about me?!? My choice in studying Engineering could seem strange considering my love for art….but I’m a “dichotomic” girl :-D…I like art but I like also science and technical jobs… I’m saying I like art because I have studied piano for 7 years at the academy of music “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno where I live. It was hard for me to decide to stop studying music when I started the university but it was impossible to attend both Engineering and music academy. I hope to restart studying the piano in the future because it is my passion all along. Another passion I had in the past and that I would engage in is painting. I think I have inherited this love from my paternal grandmother.
So…why I decided to become an engineer?!? Because science has been fascinating me all along :-o And because I like practical things! In particular, space is exciting for me; I have always entertained the idea of working in space field.
Others hobbies?!? Well, sport, travelling and to have fun with my boyfriend and our friends ;-)
I’m Filippo and I’m 27 years old until October. I’m PhD student at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. I think that the PhD is a positive experience because one can acquires a considerable experience both about the research field and about the industry world. The main lack of the research world in Italy is the absence of contact with reality. Many researchers work on very complex problems without considering the costs and the possibilities of a commercial employment of the studied technology. I guess that a research project should have a clear practical purpose when it starts and should be carry out by University and Companies together. Tuning away these problems I can talk about me and my life: I live in a small town near to Pisa. It’s very peaceful and It’s ok for a person like me who hates the mess. Infact I hate places as the discotheque as well. I’m engaged with a beautiful girl and I like very much to play football and sometimes play tennis. My main interest is watch film and pass the time with computer. I like travel very much and I like the summer and the sun. At the moment I don’t have nothing more to say. I have never had a fondness for these personal description. I prefer to be described by other people.
Hi everybody! My name is Maria Cristina, but most people call me simply Cristina… well, I like both, so feel free to choose the one you prefer! I was born in Pisa, something more then 19 years ago ;-) and I lived in this city till now, except for the period I spent in France doing a 9 months internship for my PhD. I graduated in aerospace engineering in 2005 and at present I’m attending the last year of the PhD course on Nuclear and Industrial Safety. I guess some of you could ask why I changed subject… well, actually, I didn’t intend to continue my studies after the University degree, and it was just by chance that I started collaborating with the Nuclear Engineering Department. Then, I liked working on research activities, in multicultural contexts, and I accepted to start the PhD. I’m more and more convinced that one can never know what life is reserving for the future! But work is not the most important thing in my life: I got married with Lorenzo last September, and now I’m thinking about my future more seriously than I used to do before! Unfortunately, Lorenzo works and lives in Milan, and probably I’ll join him after the end my PhD; anyway, I don’t live alone here in Pisa, since I share the apartment with Hera and Juanito, two very nice and lively kittens who make everyday life enjoyable. As you can suppose, I really love animals and nature; I also like observing and photographing the world all around us. I tried painting, but I was so bad! I like doing many other things too… but maybe you can read enough to have an idea on who I am :-) Have a nice day Cristina
Hy,my real name is Lenuta ,I think is a bit difficult for you:)As I don't like my name I prefer to be called Roxana.I'm 24 and I'm from Romania but I've lived in Italy for 3 years. Last year I began to study at University in Pisa Foreigns Languages.I do French,English and next year I'll do also Spanish .I'm quite good in French, but my English isn't very good ,as you can see,so I decided to do this English course to improve my English and in order to pass my exams. I've never been in England,so I would like to apply for Erasmus Project to do an experience abroad . Unfortunatelly,I don't have much spare time because I'm working in an Employment Agency in Pontedera ,but I don't speak English at work , most of people who apply for a job are Romanian . Every time I can I really like listening to the music, read books, papers,go out with my friends,go for a walk..But my dream is travel as much as I can...That's all for now...Bye bye
Hi! I'm Valeria, I'm studing economics, particularly I'm study the sustainable management of territory. I've decided to attend on a Cli course to refresh my English! In my spare time I play in a theater group and take part in some volunteer activities (Civil Protection, recreational activitie for children...). I like to travel but, as I said, I'm a student thus I don't have much money! So I work as baby sitter, as assistant in Festival, as waiterss... I like animals and nature I think people should care moro for the environment!
I have been working in tertiary education and foreign language teaching for over 16 years. My professional areas of interest are Language Awareness, Tandem learning, Learner Counselling, Cross Cultural communication and language learning in multimedia environnments including Second Life.

I would sleep always and everywhere … In fact I sleep in the train every morning when I go to the University, in airplane, at the sea etc…
I’m also fond of stuffed animals (I have got about 60 stuffed animals in my bedroom so there isn’t no more space because some of them are very big…) and of Egypt. In fact I like Egyptian history, the mystery of this ancient culture and in particular their mythology. My parents have given a cruise on Nile for my academic degree and I have cruised with Alberto on October. I have really realized one of my bigger dreams!! The cruise has been very interesting and I have bought a lot of papyrus, statues, typical objects and so on…
Well, for now it’s all… I want to maintain a little of mystery about me….
Bye!!!
Bye!
Hi everybody,
my real name is Andrea but I feel more comfortable with nicknames in the world wide web ^_^.
Hi Everybody....
-----------M. A. H. Mithu----------
My name is Vanessa; I was born in Turin in 1982.
My father decided for my name. When my mother was pregnant he read a book where the main character was a beautiful girl called Vanessa. Then he discovered that Vanessa is also a kind of butterfly derived from Greek Phanes (Phanessa), a mystic divinity. Afterward he said: “if it is a female, her name will be Vanessa”
I spent my life go around Italy with my parents, but now I'm living in Pisa where I attended the University of Pisa and at the same place I'm attending the Ph.D. course in Information Technology.
(Dear Prof. Luisa, please, forgive me!)
About me in leisure time, I'm a juggler (yes, not only engineering in my life!) and every time I can spare some time I love throwing objects in the air.
I'm 37, probably one of the older in Luisa's student set, and the question that immediately arises is: "why 37?, What the hell did u do in the past 10 years from your degree?"
Since I'm a physicist, I began working at the IBM as computer-scientist...
R
Hi all,
I'm Giuseppe.
I'm late.
Bye Bye
See you Tomorrow
excuse me for the precedent post. it was badly formatted cos i copied it from notepad... :)
Hi everybody,
i'm Manuel and I'm a phd-student in Information Engineering. My area of
research concerns the architecture of elaboration systems.
First i
have the opportunity to stay with my parents and keep alive all my contacts and fellowships in La Spezia.
I also love going out
with my friends, both in La Spezia both in Pisa. I'm not a disco lover, that's true. Music is too loud and you have to dress in ridiculous ways. I prefer pubs, where you can talk and have a beer with your friends whithout having to move in strange ways and pumping your ear with basses.
Hi guys!
I’m Antonio. I live in Pisa, but next year I’ll probably transfer abroad for working. As you, I’m a PhD student and I’ll finish the course at the end of this year.
According to all people that know me well, I have a great fault, to be an engineer! I often try to solve all kind of daily problems with the scientific approach, very boring for my fiancée and same of my friends.
But life is not only to work… I like play the guitar, in particular I try to arrange classical music mixing the accompaniment and solos. When I was teenager I played in a rock&metal band in my birth-town. My favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode and Radiohead…
In regard to sport, I like to run for long distances, in the 2006 I participate in an half-marathon in Pisa, the ‘Strapazzata’, I ran for 21km and I took about 2 hours and half, not bed for me! Normally I prefer to run in the early morning at 6am, because at that time the air is very fresh and clean, instead in the evening it’s hot and full of pollution.
Furthermore, I learned to swim two years ago, and now I swim everyday.
What can I say more?
I like to travel and to explore new places and cultures. I have visited almost all countries in Europe and several states in the USA. But now I wish to visit China and Japan!
Bye…
See you tomorrow!
Bye!
Giulio.
I like reading undemanding books, like adventure storys, because for me are more pleasant; but the reading that I love deeply is the Disney comics like Topolino, Paperino et cetera…
I don’t like television, because I think that it burns our minds, in particular program like talk show and similar, but sometimes I see television for a good film like Bud Spencer and Terence Hill’s films, for a soccer match or for a documentary.
Hi,
I'm Andrea, I'm 27 and I live in Livorno.
You will eat grass,
you will have no intelligence and you will live 50 years."
The donkey answered: "I will be a donkey, but to live 50 years is much. Give me only 20 years"
God granted his wish.
God created the dog
and said to him:
"You will guard the house of man. You will be his best Friend. You will eat the scraps that he gives you and you will live 30 years. You will be a dog. "
The dog answered: "Sir, to live 30 years is too much, give me only 15 years.
" God granted his wish.
God created the monkey
and said to him:
"You will be a monkey. You will swing from branch to branch doing tricks. You will be amusing and you will live 20 years " The monkey answered: "To live 20 years is too much, give me only 10 years."
God granted his wish.
Finally God created man ...
and said to him:
"You will be man, the only rational creature on the face of the earth. You will use your intelligence to become master over all the animals. You will dominate the world and you will live 20 years."
Man responded: "Sir, I will be a man but to live only 20 years is very little, give me the 30 years that the donkey refused,
the 15 years that the dog did not want and the 10 years the monkey refused.
" God granted man's wish
And since then, man lives 20 years as a man , marries and spends 30 years like a donkey, working and carrying all the burdens on his back.
Then when his children are grown, he lives 15 years like a dog taking care of the house and eating whatever is given to him,
so that when he is old, he can retire and live 10 years like a monkey, going from house to house and from one son or daughter to another doing tricks to amuse his grandchildren.
..........M.A. H. Mithu..........
Hi!
I’m Elisa and I live in Lucca. I’m a Ph.D. student in Information Engineering
My field of research is focused on Microwave and RF integrated circuits…well, to tell all the truth, I really like better studying microwave circuits.

(I don't want to frighten anybody about having a family, it's only a change of needs!)
I think it's all (I'm very brief when I write!)
bye
Cristina
What else?
I think I have said enough, for the moment, at least :)

That's all at the moment.Bye

hello everybody
my name is Mario, i am 28 and i am a phd student here in pisa. i am attending to this english course because i need to improve my ability to speak and write english. i guess there are many motivations about that, first of all my work, i am in the biothecnology field, so english is everyday, second, but not less important, everyone neeeds english to comunicate we are continuosly "hit" by english language from everywhere T.V., internet...and it is getting everydays more marked
ok, that's all

Hi I'm Daniele, I'm studying English because i like it very much, i would like to be able and fluent in speaking so i decided to enroll this course. I study aerospace engineering at Pisa's university. my interest are....too many! i like to cook and make everything like beer cheese wine...
I've got two dogs a many other animals (fortunately I don't live in the city!) I plaid for ten years clarinetto then I started to study guitar and whit some friends of mine we plaid music together.I like rugby,I plaid rugby,i say tanks to rugby! Strange? I don't think so.If U know rugby you will understand me, it's a very friendly sport (well i mean not during the match) the third time together whit the opposite team it's a very nice way to meet people...i think rugby is what we call Sport.Anyway time it's pass, but it's not all i hope we'll have many other opportunity
Bye Bye...

Hi all,
my name is Giovanni and I'm a phd student in computer science.
By the way, I used to play tennis a lot, and even earlier I played volleyball (but I think I'm not really good at playing it anymore...). I also sometimes played football, but I'm not doing it for a long time.
It's all for now,
have a nice day!
Gio
Hi evrybody.

Hello everybody,
my name is Emanuele, I'm 26 year old and I'm from Grosseto.
Last time I went to poll, the election secretary asked me if I could poll also for the Senate because he thought I was under 25 years-old! I hope that in the future, when I’ll be older, everybody will think me younger .
Joking aside, what can I tell you about me?!?
My choice in studying Engineering could seem strange considering my love for art….but I’m a “dichotomic” girl :-D…I like art but I like also science and technical jobs…
I’m saying I like art because I have studied piano for 7 years at the academy of music “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno where I live.
Hello,
I’m Filippo and I’m 27 years old until October.
I like doing many other things too… but maybe you can read enough to have an idea on who I am :-)
Have a nice day
Cristina
